Northern India train gets makeover with famous regional art

Reuters: A train connecting India's capital New Delhi to northern state of Bihar has got a beautiful makeover with a regional form of art, called 'Madhubani'. The artistically painted train is a sight to behold for passengers and is an aesthetical pleasure to passengers. Nine bogeys of the train have been painted, so far with Madhubani paintings and it took four days for 30 artists for painting one coach and it has been running while being painted. This art represents the local culture there like natural beauty, fisheries, etc, said the Senior Superintendent of Uttar Pradesh Police, K Gautam. Madhubani art (or Mithila painting) is practiced in the Mithila region of northern state of Bihar in India and in Nepal. The painting is characterised by stunning geometrical patterns done and are known for representing ritual content for occasions like festivals and religious rituals. The painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments.
