JVP warns of more privatisation of SOEs

COLOMBO (News 1st) -  Speaking at a media briefing convened by the People's Liberation Front (JVP), the Propaganda Secretary of the JVP, MP Vijitha Herath spoke about the agreement signed with Asian Development Bank in 2016. Herath noted that because of this deal, the Government hopes to release the funds of the EPF and the Provident fund of the private sector into the share market. He also noted that the Government plans to release stakes of the Airport and Ports as well. Documents are being prepared to convert the Katunayake Airport into a private company, said MP Herath adding that they are preparing to obtain a Rs.48 Billion loan from the ADB with the promise that SOEs will be privatized as well.
