Supply of moonshine to Anuradhapura hospital cut off

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An illegal moonshine operation which had been carried out in close proximity to the Anuradhapura Teaching hospital was raided by the Police on Monday (July 9th). The raid was carried out based on a tip-off received by the Anuradhapura Police Intelligence Unit. The police stated that the suspects had been supplying alcohol to both in-house patients and hospital employees over a period of time. Two individuals who came into the hospital to sell alcohol while posing as visitors were taken into police custody through the raid. Police stated that 20 containers of alcohol and a three-wheeler were also taken into custody along with the suspects. The suspects are due to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrates Court, investigations into the racket are continuing.
