COLOMBO (News 1st) – Minister Rishad Bathiudeen has requested the Government not to repeat the mistakes of the previous government.
Minister Bathiudeen stated that when the then General Secretary of the SLFP came forward as the presidential candidate and promised to form a Government of Good Governance with the UNP leader as the Prime Minister, he placed his faith in both leaders and supported them. However, he noted that when looking back at certain details he felt very disappointed
He cautioned both leaders not to repeat the mistakes of the previous Government and ruin the economy of the people. He added that the people of this country would teach them a good lesson unless they fulfill their mandate.
The Minister also commenting on the previous government stated that there were certain groups that took up the task of creating disharmony among the Sinhala and Muslim communities.
