150,000 families no longer eligible for samurdhi

Colombo (News1st) - The Samurdhi development authority notes that they have identified around 150,000 families who are no longer eligible to receive Samurdhi benefits. Director General of the Department J. Dadallage noted that if these individuals voluntarily remove themselves from he samurdhi scheme, this will make way for the department to provide these benefits to another group of 150,000 families. Dadallage also noted that the general public can apply to obtain samurdhi benefits till the 31st of this month in line with the recent cabinet decision to expand the samurdhi benefits to a further 150,000 families.
