Colombo (News1st) - The trade union action launched by the railway operators along the up-country railway line has ended. It was reported this morning that the Night mail trains from Badulla to Colombo and  Fort to Badulla have been stopped at the Nawalapitiya railway station. The trains had been stopped as the railway workers had decided to launch a trade union action. Commuters state that they have been highly inconvenienced due to the sudden trade union action launched by the railway workers. When contacted the railway control room noted that they are unable to get in touch with their officials at the Nawalapitiya railways station to ascertain the situation. However, they did note that they are receiving reports that railway operators along the upcountry railway line have launched a trade union action over an incident an incident where a station master allegedly threatened a railway operator. As a result, 5 trains operating from Rambukkana to Colombo, Fort have been cancelled. When we inquired into the matter from Railways general manager S.M. Abeywickrama, he noted that disciplinary action will be taken against all officials involved.
