COLOMBO (News 1st) – General Secretary of the United People’s Freedom Alliance, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says they will continue the coalition government with the United National Party. The Minister made this statement responding to an inquiry made by News 1st following an event in Colombo today (April 23).
Further Minister Amaraweera stated that the UNP and SLFP are functioning as a national government. He stated that they are clearly going ahead with a program for a national government while protecting the identity of the SLFP and added that they are decisions for the sake of the country.
According to the Minister, their primary objective is to take the country forward. However, 16 members of the SLFP who voted in favor of the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister and defected from the government say the Sri Lanka Freedom Party should completely leave the government.
