President Sirisena pledges commitment to sustainable development

President Maithripala Sirisena says that Sri Lanka, like other countries, envisions a sustainable future for the country. [caption id="attachment_202192" align="alignright" width="286"] Commonwealth Leaders arrive at Lancaster house[/caption] The President made this statement at the executive meeting which took place at the Lancaster House in London, following the inaugural ceremony of the Commonwealth heads of government meeting yesterday. The executive meeting was attended by a number of heads of state including British premier Theresa May and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.   [caption id="attachment_202194" align="aligncenter" width="259"] President Maithripala Sirisena welcomed by British PM Theresa May[/caption] According to the Presidential Media Unit, the President had reiterated Sri Lanka's commitment to paying special attention to fulfilling a sustainable future for all so that the future generation could make use of protected forests, rivers and the sea. The President later joined the other leaders for a banquet dinner hosted by Queen Elizabeth II.
