COLOMBO (News1st) - Chairman of the Elections Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya, said the ballot papers issued to voters at the polling station are printed with only the names and symbols of the contesting parties and the words "Independent Group", and the identification number and symbols in the case of independent groups. The names or numbers of candidates will not appear on the ballot paper. Issuing a communique, the Elections Commission has requested voters to mark only one cross in the space provided on the right side of the name and symbol of the party or number and symbol of the Independent group you wish to cast your vote. He further requested the general public to not wait until the last minute, hence cast their vote as early as possible. Elections Commissioner, Mahinda Deshapriya, said they expect to start the issuance of election results from 8:30 p.m. onwards.
