Police Headquarters announces special traffic plan for Independence Day

The Police Headquarters states that a special traffic plan will be in effect in Colombo tomorrow, February 4, in line with the 70th Independence Day celebrations.

Accordingly, Galle Road from the Galle Face Roundabout to the Old Parliament Roundabout will be closed from 5 a.m. till 12 noon tomorrow.

Chaithya Road will also be closed during this period.

Issuing a communique, the Police Headquarters noted that vehicles will not be allowed to enter the Galle Road from the Kollupitiya Junction, St. Micheal Junction and Rotunda Junction from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.

Furthermore, the vehicular movement from the Ceramic Junction towards the Old Parliament, and towards Bank of Ceylon Mawatha from York Street will also be suspended from 7 to 12 noon tomorrow.

In addition to this, vehicles will also not be allowed to enter the CTO Junction in Fort opposite Fort Railway Station and enter towards Ceramic Junction from the CTO Junction, during this period.

The communique further notes that vehicular movement towards D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha from the Gamini Roundabout and Eagle Junction, from the Slave Island Police Roundabout will also be limited from 8 a.m. till 12 noon tomorrow.

Police have requested the general public to use alternative routes.
