The Ministry of Education states that Shramadana campaigns will be organised in all schools before they reopen next year, 2018, in order to clean the surrounding areas and free them of Dengue breeding zones.
According to the Director of Education Renuka Pieris, steps have been taken to declare today (Dec 29) and tomorrow (Dec 30) as days to conduct Shramadana campaigns.
She further stated that principals must enter records of conducting Shramadana campaigns in their school log books in order to ensure a Dengue free zone for the students.
The Director of Education said that severe legal steps will be taken against the principals who fail to create a Dengue free zone for students.
