Sri Lanka Navy responds to Indian vessel in distress

An Indian vessel was in distress in the seas off Galle.

The Sri Lanka Navy has said the seven staff members on-board the ship have been rescued.

The rescued staff members were brought to the Galle Harbour at around 06:35 a.m.

Sri Lanka Navy Media Spokesperson, Commander Lankanatha Dissanayake, said the Indian vessel was sailing to Maldives from India, and that steps will be taken to hand over the crew to the Indian High Commission.
