The president handed over deeds to 30 families at the Ministry of Disaster Management on Friday evening.
The government has planned to provide new houses to 98 families who lost their homes to the disaster – with an allocation of Rs.392 million for this purpose.The houses will be provided from the second phase of the ‘ Laksanda Sevana’ housing complex in Salamulla, Kolonnawa.
The complex comes under the purview of the Urban Development Authority.
The President also presided over a meeting held at the Disaster Management Ministry on Friday to review the progress of providing relief measures to the Meethotamulla victims.
President Maithripala Sirisena instructed that a programme be implemented to solve the issue of solid waste management in the country and vest the power with a Central Authority in that process.
