Attorney-at-Law U. R. De Silva has been elected as the 24th President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka.
The appointment was officially announced by Additional Solicitor General Suhadha Gamlath, who served as the Returning Officer for the BASL election.
The elections of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka ended at 5 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, March 15.
Votes were cast at seventy-five centres countrywide.
Fourteen-thousand attorneys were deemed eligible to cast their vote for the election.
Secretary of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, Attorney-at-Law Amal Randeniya said voting ended peacefully.
