The Presidential Commission appointed to look into the controversial bond issue will convene today, March 03.
Dr. M. Z. M Azeem who served as the Additional Superintendent of the Public Debt Department is expected to give evidence before the Presidential Commission on Friday as well.
Bearing evidence before the Presidential Commission on March 02, Dr. M. Z. M Azeem stated that Former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran visited the office of the Superintendent of the Public Debt Department at around 10.45 a.m. on February 27, 2015, when the questionable transaction is said to have taken place.
He further noted that entrance to the office is limited during the transaction period and that he has failed to see a Governor visit the office in such a manner during his tenure at the Central Bank.
Secretary to the Presidential Commission Sumathipala Udugamasuriya said the former Additional Superintendent of the Public Debt Department is due to be inquired on several other matters, today, March 03.
