The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy says, the first generator at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant, which is currently inoperative, will be restored by Sunday, October 23.
The Ministry’s Media Spokesperson Sulakshana Jayawardena said the required repairs are being conducted expeditiously.
The Norochcholai Coal Power Plant malfunctioned for the 26th time on Saturday, October 15, due to a fault in its transmission system.
The fault caused a loss of 1/6th of the total power generation from the national power grid, while the second generator which also malfunctioned, was restored on Wednesday, October 19.
