Gammadda 100 days: Project to provide clean drink water commences in Padaviya

With over 600,000 people affected by the severe drought in the country, a religious ceremony was held on Wednesday, October 12 in line with the Gammadda 100-Day Initiative to invoke the blessing of the gods.

The villagers of the Kumbukwewa in Padaviya joined hands with the Gammadda 100 day initiative to pray for rain to engage in agricultural activities.

A project to provide these same villagers with clean drinking water also commenced today. A number of villages in the area, which is home to over 200 families, suffer from chronic kidney disease.

The Sri Lanka Navy and the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease also joined the Gammadda 100 Day Initiative in this en-devour.

Peethawa is a rural village, located approximately 26 kilometres away from the Yatiyanthota town.

Two projects to provide the residents of Peethawa, with clean, drinking water and sanitary facilities commenced today as part of the Gammadda 100 Day Initiative.

The projects will benefit over 100 families …

Roofing sheets were also distributed to these villagers as part of the Gammadda initiative.

The Gammadda 100 Day Initiative continues to grow from strength to strength.
