Excessive speed, reckless driving and jay-walking results in the countless loss of lives in the country.Today, a 24 year old paid the price with her life due to the action of a reckless driver.

Ayesha Madushani made her way to the Ahungalla Bus Stand early in the morning on October 8, with her father, hoping to attend a sports event in Colombo.

She was at the bus-stand anticipating the arrival of her friends,when tragedy struck. A semi-luxury bus plying from Colombo to Matara veered of the road and crashed on to a wall and the bus stand.

Her father managed to narrowly escape death.

Meanwhile at around 01:30 this morning the vehicle in which Trincomalee District MP Abdul Mahroof and three of his relatives were traveling in, met with an accident in Pelwehera , Dambulla.

They were admitted to the Dambulla General Hospital for treatment. Police said that the MPs car had crashed on to the rear of a lorry.
