Residents of Mundalama staged a protest obstructing the Colombo – Chilaw main road on Sunday, demanding for a proper road.

Vehicular movement on the road came to a complete standstill for an hour and a half,  due to the protest.

Efforts made by the police to remove the protesters from the road were futile as the protesters continued their demonstration.

SP G.M. Somaratne, who is in charge of the Kalpitiya area, had to interfere to disperse the protesters.

SP Somaratne informed the protesters that arrangements would be made for a discussion with the relevant officials on Wednesday for a solution to be met.
