A fire has erupted in the Wewaihala Kanda reserve located within the Polpithigama Divisional Secretariat.

Our correspondent said that the fire which erupted on Sundaynight continues to affect a number of areas within the reserve.

According to our correspondent in the area,  nearly ten acres of land has been destroyed in the reserve which is considered to be of archaeological value.
