The Citizens Front and the National Movement For a Just Society convened a joint a media briefing on Thursday, July 14. Co- Convener,  Citizens Front Gamini Wiyangoda speaking at the briefing said:

If there were 10 people involved in the large scale corruption that took place in the country there are hundred people behind them.

Gamini Wiyangoda says that a minister, a deputy minister or an MP alone is incapable of carrying out such frauds. He also stated that Sri Lanka will never get rid of corruption as long as officials like Dadallage claim they ‘have not committed any wrong but simply acted on orders issued from above’.

Sarath Wijesuriya, the Convener for the National Movement for a Just Society voiced his thoughts during the media brief. He stated that when the cost of living in the country is increasing, one cannot be satisfied with the decisions the government is taking on behalf of the management of the economy.

“They vowed on the 8th that they will not have large scale celebrations. They said they will not publish articles in newspapers. They said they will not erect cutouts and that they will not waste public funds for things like that”, said Convener,  National Movement for a Just Society, Sarath Wijesuriya,

Wijesuriya noted that at present it is evident that many of the things the current government promised not to do, is being done.
