The Sirasa Shakthi John Keells Sahana Yathra together with Brandix organized in order to provide relief to the hundreds of thousands of people affected by torrential rainfall , Gale winds, flash floods and landslides set off towards the affected areas on Friday the 20th of May.

The District of Colombo was the most affected by the flash floods.

The convoys with relief material visited many areas including Kolonnawa , Meethotamulla , Mulleriyawa and Angoda where the people breathed a sigh of relief after being offered the aid.

Over 40,000 families in the Gampaha District were affected by the floods and the convoys first visited the Urban Council Community Centre in Gampaha to provide the relief aid.

The most number of deaths were reported from the Kegalle District which were the result of flash floods and Landslides.

Large numbers were also affected from the Puttlam District. The Sahana Yathra provided relief to those affected.

Flash floods and Gale winds battered Kilinochchi in the Northern Province and the Sirasa Shakthi John Keells Sahana Yathra together with Brandix were en-route to provide relief to those areas.

Torrential Rainfall and flash floods over the past 05 days caused earth-slips and landslides affecting the Districts of Colombo, Gampaha , Kegalle, Puttlam and Kilinochchi.

The Sirasa Shakthi John Keells Sahana Yathra together with Brandix was organized to be a helping hand to the people who are in dire need and the convoys set off this morning following religious observances.
