The Sirasa Shakthi John Keells Sahana Yathra together with Brandix organized to provide relief to our fellow Sri Lankans due to the disastrous weather situation set off towards 05 districts on Friday, May 20. The objective of the Sahana Yathra programme is to provide relief to the people who have been left helpless due to the flash floods, earth slips and landslides.
Following the religious observances, the teams observed two minutes of silence for all those who lost their lives due to the disasters.
Group Director of TCMOL, S.C.Weerasekera stated that the private sector don’t not idle when the country faces a disaster but instead they organize programs on behalf of the government.
He added that the whole John Keells team including the Chairman, Directors as well as the staff were present to pack items and ensure that they were prepared to be distributed among the needy.
Explaining further he also appreciated Ashroff Omar of Brandix and his staff for coming together on a short notice.
With the relief items provided by people from all areas of the country under a period of 24 hours, the convoys set off towards the 5 affected districts from the collection centre in T.B.Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10.
