The foundation stone was laid in Hambantota for the construction of a village, under the government’s model village programme. Minister of Housing and Construction, Sajith Premadasa laid the foundation stone on Monday, May 9, for Gajasamaragama, Weerawila – the 48th model village. This model village will comprise of 70 homes.

Minister Sajith Premadasa noted that through the friendship, they have made trade agreements to increase investment, increase the number of factories and also create one million jobs in five years.

He added these agreements will be spoken in the open, discussed in parliament, entered in the parliament agenda – and they will enter into the agreement with the approval of the parliament.

Explaining further, he added that a group of political henchmen of the former government who sucked the meat off the nation’s bones through benefits and privileges states now that its wrong to enter into trade agreements.

He went on to note that they assume that he is entering a ‘casino agreement’ like the ones which were signed by their government
