West Indies off-spinner Sunil Narine bowling action was cleared by the international cricket council today.
The 27-year-old Trinidadian was suspended in November 2015 after being cited during a one-day match in Sri Lanka. He faced similar problem during the 2014 Champions League T20 tournament.
At the retest, it was revealed that the amount of elbow extensions in Narine’s bowling action for all his deliveries that were tested was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations for the review of bowlers reported with suspected illegal bowling actions.
He was selected by West Indies for the World Twenty20 but pulled out because he had not proved his action was legal.
He can now play in the Indian Premier League for Kolkata Knight Riders.
However the umpires are free to report Narine in the future if they believe he uses a suspect action.
