The police have launched a broad investigation into an incident where stones were hurled at three buses travelling along the Southern Expressway.
Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said that one private bus and two buses of the Sri Lanka Transport Board were attacked.
Police stated that the buses were travelling from Kottawa to Matara when they were attacked. The windows of the buses were damaged in the attack.
The Private bus Owners Association says that as a result of these incidents, passengers travelling along the Southern Expressway are at risk.
When News 1st inquired on the steps taken to ensure the security of vehicles travelling along the Southern Expressway, Road Development Authority’s Director of Expressway, Operation, S. Opanayaka said that the public has been asked to notify the police of individuals behaving in an unruly manner along the Expressway, under the influence of alcohol.
