The police announced that vehicular movement along several roads in Colombo will be restricted owing to the rehearsals of the Independence Day celebrations.

Police media spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunesekara said that vehicular movement from Galle
Road, Galle Face Roundabout to Old Parliament Roundabout, Chaithya Road will be restricted from 5 a.m. on Wednesday to 12 noon.

The police added that only passenger buses and residents would be allowed to travel from Colpetty junction towards the Galle Face roundabout from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.

Furthermore, only residents will be allowed to use the Colpetty St.Michael’s Roundabout towards the Galle Road and from Rotunda Roundabout towards Galle Road.

They added that only office vehicles will be allowed to travel from Ceramic Junction and Lotus Road towards the old parliament.

Police further notes that only office vehicles will be allowed to travel along York street to Bank road from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Office vehicles will be permitted to travel from Janadipathi Mawatha, bank road junction to the old parliament junction between 8.15 on Wednesday morning to 12 noon.

Passenger buses and motor vehicles leaving Colombo could travel along Olcott Mawatha , Technical Junction, Maradana Bridge Junction, T.B.Jaya Mawatha, Ibbanwala junction, Union place, Lipton roundabout, Dharmapala Mawatha, F.R.Senanayake Mawatha, Kannangara Mawatha, Nanda Motors, Independent roundabout, Reid Mawatha, Thummulla roundabout, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, R.A. De Mel Mawatha and to the Galle Road.
