A group of senior police officers in charge of the Embilitiya Police jurisdiction will be summoned to the Sri Lanka Human rights Commission on Thursday to obtain statements on the death of a youth in Embilipitiya.
Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Human rights Commission, Attorney-at-Law Saliya Pieris said that the some officers attached to the Embilipitiya Police jurisdiction were on duty at the location at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Police Commission stated that a decision is to be made regarding the measures taken by the police following the incident.
Secretary to the Commission Ariyadasa Cooray said that a special meeting is scheduled to convene at the commission today, which will see the participation of the Inspector General of Police.
The interim report detailing the sequence of events that led to the death of the youth in Embilipitiya, was presented to the Inspector General of Police by Officer-in-charge of the Sabaragamuwa Province, Senior DIG of police C.D Wickremaratne, on Tuesday.
