Accusations were raised on Sunday, Jan. 10, at the Socialist Youth Front’s Anuradhapura District Summit, that authorities have failed to take any action against the corrupt.

JVP MP Bimal Ratnayake stated that they must fulfill at least one of the promises that they made, before they draft a new constitution — or fulfill two or three promises at the very least.

He went on to note that it was said that thieves would be caught, but that they have not captured even one.

He said: Not a single corrupt person has been punished. The motivation behind the the constitution is to distract the people from their problems.

They said various persons were involved in [Wasim] Thajudeen’s murder and they spoke of accusations of massive financial fraud. They spoke of sharks, shrimps, sprats and whales when talking about the corrupt. But none of them have been punished.
