New Zealand managed to put up 182 runs in their first T20 match against Sri Lanka at Bay Oval,Mount Maunganui.
A quick 58 off 34 balls by M.J Guptill and a well timed 53 by K.S Williamson gave the Kiwis’ a good start and was helped along by C Munro with a speedy 36
The Sri Lankan top order struggled against the home teams bowling with MJ Henry and TA Boult picking up 3 wickets each.
M.D Gunathilaka in his debut T20 managed to give Sri Lanka a fighting start while T.A.M Siriwardana chipped in 42 runs.
The Sri Lankans gave a valiant effort, specially down the order, but the total proved to be too much for the visitors as they fell short giving New Zealand the win by 3 runs
