Speaking in parliament, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the pension scheme for retired state employees will not be terminated under any circumstance.
Delivering a special statement, the Prime Minister said that it is the government’s objective to further secure the pension scheme
Speaking further, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said that, additionally the government is also in the process of devising mechanisms to make financial allocations in order to include certain benefits granted to basic salaries of state sector salaries.
The Prime Minister added that as an initial phase a sum of Rs.2000 will be added to the basic salary from next year.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also said that while the increased Emission Test Fee and Revenue License Fee are being reconsidered. The Prime Minister said that the Finance Minister is open for discussion if there is a requirement to make amendments to the aforementioned fee.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe added that until concessions on these matters are provided the Cabinet has decided to announce an interim fee.
