Ambassador Samantha Power makes key observation on women in parliament

United States Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power also participated in a conversation with youth representatives which was held in Colombo under the title Discussion with Ambassador Power.

U.S Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power stated that while girls lag behind boys in secondary education in Sri Lanka,  the girls actually outnumber boys in universities, as they make up 60 percent of undergraduates.

She went on to note that yet there is only 5% representation in the parliament.

She added that this is the change that the country needs.
