A conference organised with the aim of reviewing the people’s revolution, which came into being with the role of the common candidate, was held in Colombo.

The conference, which was organised by the Maithri Mithuro organisation was held at the Colombo Foundation Institute on Saturday afternoon .

Veteran Film Director, Dharmasiri Bandaranayake stated:

What will the future hold for us – Is the question that is before us. We are living in a society where a fourteen-year-old child strangles a seven-year-old to death, then we ask Kondaya  what his future aspirations are and Kondaya says that he that intends to enter  politics. Who created this society?

He added:

The people of this country accomplished a historic duty on the 8th of January this year to rid this country of this fate. But many people meet us and ask “how good is good governance? And when people ask this question we are quite ashamed.

Veteran Journalist, Victor Ivan stated:

Every cloud has a silver lining and the society seems to be enjoying freedom more than ever. But one negative point is that this government too is more inclined towards friends and family. The other is that the law is not implemented to everyone equally.

He further stated:

The best example is how the law was implemented regarding Lalith Weeratunga and Anusha Pelpita, who were two very prominent state officials. Those who are accused of serious crimes and corruption have been given the freedom to speak to the president and the prime minister about the investigation process .They come before the media and say what they spoke about. But I don’t think this is a suitable state of affairs. The most serious issue is that there is no alternative faction in the country instead of the government at present. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the general public to take this government on the right path.
