Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Kandy on November 19 and engaged in religious observances
Responding to a question raised by a journalist as to whether he will support the Joint Opposition or the Alliance at the Local Government Elections, the Former President said that the SLFP says that they do not need his assistance and want him to step aside and retire.
Mahinda Rajapaksa thereafter called on the Anunayake of the Malwathu Chapter Venerable Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thero.
He then called on Venerable Narampanawe Ananda Thero at the Asgiri Pirivena and engaged in a discussion.
Our correspondent said that the discussion lasted for two hours. Mahinda Rajapaksa then responded to questions posed by the media.
Commenting on the Executive Presidency he said that it will not change, but that small sections might see changes.
