Two people were killed and eleven others injured in motor accidents across the country.
Two people were killed in a motor accident when two motorcycles collided with each other in the Upaldeniya area in Galenbindunuwewa.
Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that one of the victims was a police inspector attached to the Galenbindunuwewa police station.
He said that the police officer died upon admission to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
The other motorcyclist was also killed in the accident, a bystander was also injured.
Meanwhile, five people were injured after a van fell into a precipice in Ramboda, Kotmale.
The Office of the Police Media Spokesperson said that the van which had been travelling from Nuwara Eliya to Gampola had fallen into a 30 metre deep precipice in Ramboda around 10.30 on Sunday night.
The five persons who sustained injuries in the accident, belong to the same family, and were admitted to the Kotmale District Hospital.
One individual has been transferred to the Gampola Hospital for further treatment.
Five people were injured when a bus had toppled at the 7th mile post along the Ampara – Moneragala route in the Siyambalanduwa Police area in Moneragala.
The accident occurred around 7 on Sunday night when the bus attempted to make way for another vehicle and fell into a ditch.
The injured are receiving treatment at the Siyambalanduwa Base Hospital.
