Making submissions in court today, the Criminal Investigations Department requested that Dunesh Priyashantha alias Kondaya be acquitted, as it has been proven that he was not involved in the rape and murder of Seya Sadewmi.
However, having been informed that the suspect is wanted by the Gampaha and Veyangoda Police stations in connection with other crimes, the Magistrate ordered that he be returned to remand custody until he is produced before the Attanagalla and Gampaha Magistrate’s Courts on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Saman Jayalath, the chief suspect in Seya Sedewmi’s murder has been further remanded until November 2.

The identification of the actual suspect gives us some solace and amid the pain of losing our child, my wife and I had to face serious accusations and since the whole country knows our innocence now, it gives us some solace.
He further stated:
All that is left now is the struggle to live because we have nothing now. I have lost my job too. So we are facing a situation where we cannot walk on the road. but I believe that this will be corrected in the future and that the truth will be victorious.
