The National Hospital announced that it has commenced tests to determine patients who are suitable to be provided with a cochlear implant.
Dr Chandra Jaysasuriya consultant ENT Surgeon at the National Hospital said that persons suffering from hearing difficulty as a result of various diseases can step forward for the selection.
Those selected will be included in to a stand-by list, following which the cochlear implant will be provided to them. A cochlear implant is a surgically implanted electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or is finding it difficult to hear.
