Wayne Rooney managed to equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time goals tally  as England cemented their place in the Euro 2016 tournament.

Rooney scored the record equaling 49th goal, when he netted in an early penalty against San Marino but was substituted by England manager Roy Hodgson.The 29 year old Manchester United player has to now wait for his next encounter a Wembley on Tuesday, against Switzerland to attempt to break the record.

England, has won seven out of seven matches in qualifying to ensure that they will be in France next Summer.
