Tiran Alles, previously prohibited from travelling overseas by court due to an ongoing investigation regarding alleged financial fraud at the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA), was given permission to travel overseas by Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage on Thursday September 3.
Submitting a motion via his lawyers on Thursday, Tiran Alles sought permission to travel abroad to seek medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court determined on Wednesday September 2 that there is no reasonable or justifiable cause to arrest Tiran Alles, in connection to alleged financial misappropriations at RADA.
Dr. Saliya Wickremasuriya, a prominent intellectual, was previously remanded in connection with transactions at RADA, and was later released.
Furthermore, intellectuals say that it is counter-productive to pressurise learned people who can serve the country, over political and personal reasons.
