The Department of Wildlife says that the elephant calf which was seized from the Gonapeenuwala, Ginimellagaha area in Hikkaduwa is to be presented before court on Monday August 31.
The elephant calf was taken into the custody of wildlife officials while it was being taken for a perahera at a temple.
Assistant Director for the Western Zone of the Department of Wildlife W.A.A.D.U. Indrajith said that the elephant calf was seized due to the flaws in the licence. He added that pachyderm will be presented to court today, following which the necessary legal action will be taken.
