Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena has been further remanded until September 9 on charges of assaulting an individual.

The former deputy minister was further remanded when he was produced before Gampaha Chief Magistrate Tikiri Jayatileke on Wednesday August 26.

Former deputy minister Sarana Gunawardena and three other individuals were arrested on August 24 and remanded on the charge of assaulting an individual in the Gampaha town on August 14.

When the case was taken up on Wednesday, Gampaha Chief Magistrate Tikiri Jayatileke ordered that Sarana Gunawardena be further remanded until September 9.Three other individuals were released on a sureties of Rs.50 000.
