India clinched a 278 run victory over Sri Lanka in the second test to square the three match test series today but even the defeat did not dampen the farewell for one of the greatest batsmen in the history of test cricket, Kumar Sangakkara.
Chasing a target of 413 for victory, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 134 runs after 43.4 overs on the final day.
But it appeared that cricket fans across the globe were more concerned with the departure of Kumar Sangakkara, considered a living legend by fans both at home and abroad.
During the lunch break today, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe made an appearance at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo to add his best wishes for Sanga.
A massive crowd including the President and Prime Minister gathered after stumps, to bid farewell to Sangakkara.
An accomplished Orator who is celebrated for his eloquence and wisdom, Sangakkara delighted fans of his oratory today as well.
