The night mail train travelling from Colombo Fort to Badulla has derailed from its tracks.

The derailment took place near the Watawala train station at around 3.45 a.m on Wednesday.

Our correspondent said that owing to this derailment, the train plying from Badulla to Colombo has been halted at the Watawala train station.

Attempts are underway to get the train back on track.
