Janaka Bandara Tennakoon at a press conference in Dambulla on July 24 announced that he will resign from his position as Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Development.
The UPFA Matale District Candidate noted they accepted the ministerial positions as per the decision that was taken by the SLFP Central Working Committee and hoped that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Working Committee would request them to step down.
However, he said, it seems that would not take place and that therefore as a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, he decided to step down from his position. He said he has drafted the letter and once the president accepts it, his job will be done.
Following the footsteps of his father T.B. Tennakoon, the former minister had drafted his letter of resignation in the form of a poem.
