Minister of Housing and Samurdhi, Sajith Premadasa speaking at a United National Front public rally held in the Hathgala area in Ambalantota, noted that the people of Sri Lanka need to think wisely about the future of the country, when exercising their franchise.

He went on to question if there isn’t any other development project that can be carried out in Hambantota other than reclaiming land from the sea and establishing casinos. Can you build casinos and provide relief to the farmers, labourers and the poor, asked Premadasa.

He further noted that:

…either you get fooled by that insincere person who wears a shawl or else dedicate and commit yourselves to building a new Sri lanka and this decision lies in your hands and transform that decision into reality, and make a wise decision thinking about the country – the motherland – your children and the future generations.
