Speaking at a meeting in Temple Trees on Sunday, June 21, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the dark era of this country came to end with the appointment of Maithripala Sirisena as president.

The prime minister made this statement during a meeting with members of the National Youth Front.

He said that they promised that they would provide relief and solutions to short term problems within a short span of 100 days, adding that within that they achieved things that certain governments could not achieve even in five years.

He added that despite doing all this, it is now time for them to look in to long-term problems.
