Speaking at a religious event in Hali Ela Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala De Silva noted that leadership is a trait that should be accepted by the people.

The Minister made this statement at a religious ceremony at the Kudu Mahawela Viharaya in Hali Ela on Thursday.

Speaking at the event opposition Leader Nimal Siripala De Silva said that politics has been commercialised and that is why we are trying to do away with the preferential system and introduce a electoral system without this mechanism. All this effort is to eradicate the commercial aspect of politics in the country.

He  added that whole of Sri Lanka needs leadership. This is because there is no direction without leadership. He also pointed out that there are too many problems when there are too many leaders. Just because leaders are appointed from the top does not mean it is right. This leadership should be accepted by the people.
