Parliamentarian Sajin De Vass Gunawardena and former Puttalam District Co-ordinating Secretary for the Jathika Saviya Programme attached to the Presidential Secretariat were produced before Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage and have been further remanded till June 24.
The suspects were placed in remand custody for allegedly misusing twenty two vehicles belonging to the Presidential Secretariat.
Producing the suspects in court on Wednesday June 17, the Criminal Investigations Department said that one of the vehicles used by the MP under a false licence plate was discovered in a garage in Narahenpita.
The CID added that details of five other vehicles of the Presidential Secretariat are unknown, and investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, the respondents mentioned in the petition against Minister Sajith Premadasa citing that only the ministers and government associates were being provided with Samurdhi Benefits, were summoned before the Supreme Court. It was revealed that notices were not issued on the respondents as the petition will be taken up once again on the 29th.
