The Ranbhumi Rally for Unity, organised by MTV/MBC, News 1st, the National Youth Services Council and Colombo Port City, reached Deniyaya on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ranbhumi Rally for Unity, which has been spreading the message of co-existence since setting out from Talaimannar twenty seven days ago, commenced today’s leg of the journey in Ratnapura.

The Ranbhumi Rally, which is promoting unity, harmony, co-existence and sustainable development for a brighter future for Sri Lanka, received the blessings of the people of Ratnapura, at a grand ceremony held on Wednesday morning. This was the 79th event held to welcome the Ranbhumi Rally.

The people of Ratnapura, who extended their heartfelt best wishes for the Ranbhumi Rally, came together as one to symbolise their commitment to national unity.

The people of Ratnapura too gifted a brick for the Ranbhumi  monument and extended their blessings for the success of the countrywide journey. The rally then set out for its second stop of the day – the town of Kalawaana. People lined either side of the route of the procession and welcomed the Ranbhumi Rally for Unity as it entered Kalawana.

A large crowd flocked to the Kalawana town to extend their best wishes to the journey of the Ranbhumi Rally, with the aspiration of displaying to the world, national unity, the strength of peace and the message of co-existence. The people of Kalawana too, joined hands with great enthusiasm to mark the name of their town on the Ranbhumi Monument.

The Ranbhumi Rally then proceeded to the endpoint of today’s leg of the journey, Deniyaya, taking in the scenic beauty of the lush forests and rolling green tea plantations. The people of Deniyaya waited in great anticipation for the arrival of the Ranbhumi Rally for Unity, symbolising their dedication to ensure national unity and to make co-existence a reality.

The Ranbhumi Rally for Unity, organised by MTV/MBC, News 1st, the National Youth Services Council and Colombo Port City, will mark Day 28 of its journey across the country tomorrow from the city of Urubokka at 9.00 a.m. The Ranbhumi Rally is scheduled to reach the Akuressa bus stop at 11 a.m. before proceeding to Kamburupitiya at 2 p.m.
