A suspect has been arrested in connection to the alleged killing of the Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman.

Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the suspect, who is believed to be the driver of the vehicle which was involved in the murder was arrested on Sunday March 29.

The Police Media Spokesperson added that the suspect is due to be produced for an identification parade.

Chairman of the Rathgama Pradeshya Sabha was shot dead on March 23, at a hotel in Hikkaduwa.

Meanwhile the funeral of the Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Manoj Mendis who was violently shot down took place earlier today.

Floral tributes fell from the skies as his funeral procession traversed from the Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha to his residence.

He was buried under a tree in his garden where he used to meet with the public.
